The Chicago Plan Commission has approved the partial redevelopment of the high-rise at 446 E Ontario Street in Streeterville. Located just west of N Jean Baptiste Du Sable Lake Shore Drive and Ohio Street Beach, the current tower known as the Onterie Center serves as an office and residential tower near the Northwestern downtown campus with views of the lake. Now with the current changes in demand, developer 441 Erie LLC is working with an undisclosed architect to convert a group of floors into a new extended stay hotel.
A new zoning application has been submitted for the mixed-use development at 330 N Clark Street in River North. Located almost on Chicago river, the new building would rise in the small parking lot at the northeast corner of the existing Reid Murdoch Center. Although it was originally proposed in 2016, the project has received a handful of changes over the years as it has worked towards getting off of the ground. Now developer Friedman Properties is proposing another change to the HKS Architects-designed structure.
Updated details and construction dates have been revealed for the mixed-use supertall skyscraper at 421 N Michigan Avenue known as Tribune East Tower. Located directly east of the recently opened Tribune Tower Residences within the historical building, the upcoming project is the second phase of that redevelopment and would change the city’s skyline. Developer CIM Group, who is working with Golub & Company, has updated the bid on their opportunities website for the Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture designed tower.
Funding has been partially approved for the mixed-use redevelopment of 2222 S Michigan Avenue within the Motor Row District. Located a few buildings south from the intersection with E Cermak Road, the project will restore the existing block-deep building while giving it a new program as the area near McCormick Place continues to see a rebound from 2020. Developer Hudson Michigan Avenue LLC is behind the proposal along with local-design firm FitzGerald.
Construction is filling out for the base of 150 E Ontario Street, a 28-story hotel in Streeterville, Chicago. The 345-foot-tall structure will be the latest addition to the RIU Hotels and Resorts chain and is expected to feature 388 guest rooms, along with a cafe at the southeast corner of the building’s street level. The Prime Group is the developer behind this project.
