With much of the remaining work now at the base, The Prime Group is finalizing the construction of a 28-story hotel located at 150 E Ontario Street in the Streeterville neighborhood. This building, a part of the RIU Hotels and Resorts group, is 345 feet tall and includes 388 guest rooms. On the ground floor will be a lobby and a cafe situated at the southeast corner, while the second level will house a dining room for guests.
Designed by Lucien LaGrange Studio, the four-star hotel features a classically inspired white masonry facade. Architectural elements include terraced setbacks, a bifurcated crown with prominent cornices, and dark metal trimming. Renderings also show an overhanging balcony with a glass floor that extends from the rooftop terrace.
The hotel’s location is less than a block from Michigan Avenue, offering proximity to several public transit options. Bus routes 2, 3, and 10 are all within a single block, and the CTA Red Line’s Grand station is an eight-minute walk southwest.
As part of the initiative, The Prime Group has also contributed $2.9 million to the neighborhood opportunity fund. W.E. O’Neil Construction Company is the general contractor for this project, which is anticipated to be completed by this summer.
