City Council Approves Stabilization Housing Redevelopment In Lincoln Square

The City of Chicago has announced plans to remodel and convert the Diplomat Motel at 5230 N Lincoln Avenue in Lincoln Square. Located towards the northernmost edge of the neighborhood, the building has served as one of the few remaining motels in the city with a unique neon mural on its streetfront. Now the City Council has voted to approve the purchase of the property in order to convert it into stabilization housing in collaboration with the Department of Public Health.

Plans Revealed For Mixed Use Development At 4454 N Western Avenue In Lincoln Square

Initial details have been revealed for a mixed-use development at 4454 N Western Avenue in Lincoln Square. Located on the southwest corner with W Sunnyside Avenue and directly across the street from Welles Park, the project would demolish and replace a vacant one-story commercial building with a multi-colored brick facade. The proposal comes to us from developer Gerard Coyle who is working with local architecture-firm 360 Design Studio.

Design Updated for 4640 N Western Avenue in Lincoln Square

Another design iteration has been revealed for 4640 N Western Avenue in Lincoln Square. Situated directly south of the Western station serviced by the Brown Line, the plans are being developed by Macon Construction, while Hirsch MPG is the project architect. The mixed-use proposal highlights a new six-story building that will incorporate an adjacent four-story structure. The project plans to provide a total of 74 apartment units and ground-floor retail space.
