Further Details Revealed Of Shedd Aquarium Expansion

New details and renderings have been revealed for the upcoming expansions to the Shedd Aquarium at 1200 S DuSable Lake Shore Drive in Museum Campus. The efforts are part of the larger $500 million Centennial Commitment Program culminating in 2030, led by president and CEO Bridget Coughlin who is working with the local office of Valerio Dewalt Train on the design of the new structures. The additions along with internal renovations will bring the core 1930’s building up-to-par for the aquarium’s 21st century needs.

The Shedd Aquarium has just revealed the initial details of its Centennial Commitment renovation for its original building at 1200 S DuSable Lake Shore Drive in Museum Campus. Stabilization Work Ordered For Laramie State Bank Building In Austin

Stabilization work has been ordered on the Laramie State Bank Building located at 5200 W Chicago Avenue in Austin. As a part of one of the Invest South/West sites, the bank will see a new life as an incubator, cafe, and blues music museum as work progresses over the coming years. Sitting on the northwest corner of the intersection with N Laramie Avenue, the bank has been vacant for nearly a decade and is in dire need of work to assure its long-term feasibility.

The newly-launched Committee on Design has reviewed a proposed mixed-use development at 5200 W Chicago Avenue in Austin. The property is a rectangular site fronting W Chicago Avenue. The parcel is bound by N Laramie Avenue to the east and N Latrobe Avenue to the west, with a public alley at its northern boundary. The site is currently home to the abandoned Laramie State Bank Building in addition to a series of vacant lots. Led by Heartland Housing Alliance and Oak Park Regional Housing Center, the proposal is the winning bid from the city’s Invest South/West Austin RFP.
