Construction reaches third level at 3341 N Sheffield Avenue in Lake View

Construction progress has reached the third floor on a new eight-unit residential development at 3341 N Sheffield Avenue in Lake View. The first two levels have already been clad in brick for the four-story building’s exterior. A New Construction permit was issued by the City of Chicago on March 7, 2024, which included permission for four outdoor parking spaces and indoor bicycle storage. The building will also feature a rooftop deck.

Foundation work has started for condo development on Twisted Hippo site in Irving Park

Foundation work has begun for another condominium development on the lot created by 2022’s Twisted Hippo fire in Irving Park. We showed you construction progress on the first condo building here earlier this month, and now 4343 N Richmond Street is also on the way. Like its predecessor at 4337 N Richmond, this will be another three-story, six-unit structure.

A two-story addition atop the Neely Building at 871 N Franklin Street on the Near North Side is underway. The steel frame is taking shape on the roof of this latest phase of the North Union project from JDL Development.

Construction makes progress at 5151 N Lincoln Avenue in Lincoln Square

A 42-unit residential building is progressing at 5151 N Lincoln Avenue in Lincoln Square. The five-story development replaces a one-story building at 5151 and a two-story structure at 5153 N Lincoln Avenue. Both were permitted for demolition August 16, 2022.

Two apartment buildings, at 5015 and 5019 N Lincoln Avenue in Lincoln Square, have come back to life after a long pause. Financial problems for the original developer stalled the projects after construction had begun on a pair of three-story, six-unit residential buildings, plus an additional foundation to the north of those. The site had become somewhat of a makeshift graffiti artists’ studio until developer Lynda Wu stepped into the picture.

Situated less than a block from Lincoln Park’s North Pond, this five-story, four-unit condominium building will offer three 3,810-square-foot, five-bedroom condos, and one 4,215-square-foot, five-bedroom penthouse.

Foundation work has begun on a four-story, 31-unit residential development on the site of a former Burger King in Wrigleyville. The City of Chicago issued a New Construction permit for the new project with the address of 3951 N Wayne Avenue.

Windows Nearly Complete at 4715 N Western Avenue in Lincoln Square

Window installation is nearing completion at 4715 N Western Avenue, a six-story residential development in Lincoln Square. The project, which replaces a surface parking across Leland Avenue from the CTA Western Brown Line elevated platform, will feature 63 affordable rental units and 5,500 square feet of ground-floor retail space. It is being developed by The Community Builders.

Foundation work is underway after the completion of demolition at 1450 W School Street in Lake View. The two-unit residential building, permitted by the City of Chicago on April 26, will include a detached two-car garage, plus two wood decks; one atop the garage, and one at the rear of the first floor.

Famous Chicago Spire Cofferdam is Getting a Trim at 400 Lake Shore

The Chicago Spire cofferdam, idle since 2008 after the 150-story skyscraper’s construction came to a halt, is getting a bit of a hair cut. Thanks to 400 Lake Shore, the 72-story residential tower now being built on the site, the top “ring” of the cofferdam is being excavated and removed as part of the new tower’s foundation.
