Construction progress has reached the third floor on a new eight-unit residential development at 3341 N Sheffield Avenue in Lake View. The first two levels have already been clad in brick for the four-story building’s exterior. A New Construction permit was issued by the City of Chicago on March 7, 2024, which included permission for four outdoor parking spaces and indoor bicycle storage. The building will also feature a rooftop deck.

Michael Cox is listed in the permit as the architect, designing the residences for developer 3339-41 Sheffield LLC. McNea and Sons Construction is assigned the general contractor duties. A demolition permit was issued in February of this year for the building previously on this site, 3339 N Sheffield, and the teardown began immediately.

Residents of 3341 N Sheffield Street will reside less than a block to the northeast from the CTA’s Route 22 bus. Two blocks south are stops for the 77 bus, as well as the Belmont L platform, with trains for the Red, Brown, and Purple Lines. Just over two blocks to the north is Wrigley Field and the 152 Addison bus.

Such a POS building to have replaced a classic Chi apartment building. Marginally added density is alright but why does it come at the expense of such solid buildings?
