A permit for new construction has been issued for a residential building located at 1734 West 17th Street in Heart of Chicago. The permit, which was issued on June 6 after a 198-day processing time, allows for a two-story rear addition with a roof deck, a rear two-story porch/stairs, a front iron fence, removal of a non-compliant rear fence, and a three-space parking pad.
The project, with a reported cost of $150,000, will be carried out on the existing two-story, three-unit property. The permit was issued under a self-certification process, with architect Laura Novick overseeing the project. The property owner is Azucena Franco.
1734 West 17th Street is located steps from stops for the 18 bus line, and is also steps from the 18th Street CTA Station, which services the Pink Line.
