A three-story masonry building, the last-standing building of the Jane Addams Homes, is being converted into the National Public Housing Museum on Taylor Street in Little Italy. A joint effort by Related Midwest and the Chicago Housing Authority, the renovation is part of Roosevelt Square Phase 3B which we featured last week.
Construction on a four-story, nine-unit condominium building in East Village is progressing at 941 N Damen Avenue. Developed and built by Volo Development, the property received its full building permit from the City of Chicago on December 8 of last year.
The City of Chicago issued a demolition permit for 2841 N Southport Avenue in the Lake View neighborhood on Monday, June 17. Construction fencing already surrounds the four-story frame residential structure, as well as the garage at the rear of the property, which will also be removed. Tir Conaill Concrete is listed as the demo contractor.
The Residences of St. Boniface, Phase 2 of the St. Boniface Church redevelopment project, has reached the second level in Noble Square, West Town. Located at 1340 W Chestnut Street and immediately east of St. Boniface Church, the new four-story elevator building was issued a New Construction permit for 20 condo units and a 25-space garage on October 23, 2023. A basement is also part of the plan, under a foundation permit issued August 25 of last year.
The four-story portion of the Westhaven Park IID project on the south end of the construction site has reached its final height on the Near West Side. We showed you the topped-out 12-story tower back in February; now, both portions are at final height and have been enclosed with windows. This development replaces an empty grass lot bounded by Maypole Avenue, Damen Avenue, and Lake Street. Its construction is running concurrent with the CTA Damen Green Line station across the street.
