Chicago’s newest tower crane has been erected in the South Loop, allowing a 13-story residential building at 1723 S Michigan Avenue to begin its ascent. 1723 South Michigan is a 149-unit rental tower from developer CMK Companies, and is designed by Gensler.
1723 South Michigan, a 13-story, 149-unit apartment project from developer CMK Companies, has set a tower crane base on the construction site in the South Loop. A pending tower crane permit on file with the City of Chicago will allow for the full assembly of the crane once the permit is issued.
Details have been revealed for the residential conversion of the office building at 739 S Clark Street in Printer’s Row. Located just north of the intersection with W Polk Street, the conversion is for the office portion of the Imprint mixed-use development. The project is being led by CMK Companies who is working on 1630 S Wabash Avenue nearby.
Construction appears to have halted at 1630 S Wabash Avenue in the South Loop. Foundation work has begun for a new 12-story mixed-use building at 1730 S Wabash Avenue in South Loop. Replacing a former parking lot, the new project will yield 110 apartment units and an 80-car garage on the first and second floors. There will also be ground-floor commercial retail.
