The residential tower at 1723 South Michigan Avenue in the South Loop has topped out at 12 stories. While the 10 upper levels contain 149 rental units, the two-story podium will hold 89 parking spaces and ground-level retail space.
This is the exact same team as the Riverline squad we posted about this past weekend. CMK Companies is the developer, with Gensler on design duty. Brandts Build is the general contractor, while Goebel Forming is the concrete contractor. The CMK/Brandts coupling also has a pair of permitted projects one block west of here, at 1630 and 1730 South Wabash. It’s not known at this time which projects will begin construction in what order.
Residents of 1723 South Michigan will have bus access via CTA Routes 1,3, and 4 right outside their door. The northwest corner of Michigan and 18th, less than a block south across the street, has a Divvy bike rack. The Cermak/McCormick Place Green Line platform is a little more than half a mile southwest, at Cermak and State.
