Glass Installation Is Underway At The 400 Lake Shore North Tower In Streeterville

The first week of April 2025 has already been a month of milestones at 400 Lake Shore in the Near North Side’s Streeterville neighborhood. Over the weekend, the construction team jumped the tower crane, adding six new sections to extend its height. On Monday, the first panels of glass, the ones visible Sunday inside the lower few floors of the tower, were installed on the north façade of the third level above ground.

400 Lake Shore Jumps The Tower Crane in Streeterville

The construction team of LR Contracting, BOWA Construction, and Goebel Forming jumped the tower crane at 400 Lake Shore in Streeterville this past weekend. Six new sections were delivered by truck to the site, and the erection crew placed them one at a time in the crane’s tower on Sunday. A permit allowing the crane to be tied in was issued by the city on March 10. The residential tower at 400 Lake Shore will yield 72 stories when completed.

1717 Michigan construction name update

Glass Is Up, Tower Crane Is Down, And 1717 Michigan Has An Official Name

The first few levels of exterior glass have been installed on 1717 Michigan, the South Loop residential building from CMK Companies formerly known as 1723 South Michigan. The construction site is also notable for what it doesn’t have: a tower crane. That’s been taken down now that the building is topped out. The construction hoist at the south end of the structure will do the rest of the heavy lifting from here on out.
