Structural pieces for the new air traffic control tower are undergoing installation at Chicago O’Hare’s new $1.2 billion Terminal 5 expansion.
The City of Chicago has awarded the construction contract for the new CTA Green Line Damen station at 2001 W Lake Street in the Near West Side. The stop has been long discussed for the growing west side area, and to serve major events at the nearby United Center which will allow for less vehicle bottlenecks on the surrounding city streets. The contract has been awarded to local construction company F.H. Paschen who has extensive experience with projects across Chicago airports, parks, schools, and transportation.
This week, the 37-story apartment tower known as Cascade and the adjacent Cascade Park both officially opened in Chicago’s Lakeshore Eastc neighborhood. Lendlease and Magellan have co-developed the overall project, which includes Cascade tower, a taller 47-story condominium tower known as Cirrus, and the public Cascade Park located at the foot of the towers.
This week, a three-story Lake View greystone known as the Vautravers Building has been lifted and moved 30 feet west to make way for the Chicago Transit Authority‘s Red-Purple Modernization project.
Several caisson and site-clearing permits were issued this week for the Obama Presidential Center, a multi-building educational and cultural center planned by The Obama Foundation. Located in the Hyde Park neighborhood and set to occupy a portion of Jackson Park, the complex will contain three main buildings around a central plaza space. This plaza area will be able to host planned events and public artwork.
