New Racine Blue Line station takes shape over the Eisenhower Expressway

The outer shell is taking shape for the new Racine Blue Line station on Chicago’s Near West Side. The station, which lies between the inbound and outbound lanes of the Eisenhower Expressway, is part of the CTA’s $3 billion plan to reconstruct the Forest Park Branch of the Blue Line system. The Racine renovation alone, which extends from Racine Avenue to the east to Loomis Street to the west, is estimated to cost approximately $23 million.

Opening Date Announced For Damen Green Line Station

An official opening date of August 5th has been announced for the new CTA Green Line Damen stop at 2001 W Lake Street in the Near West Side. The announcement comes after years of planning and delays to the project and which saw its cost rise due to this. Efforts for the station were led by the CTA with Perkins & Will working on its design.

Details And Timeline Revealed For Chicago Avenue And Halsted Street Reconstruction

Details and a timeline have been revealed for the construction of the W Chicago Avenue and N Halsted Street intersection in River West. The project comes at the same time as the adjacent Bally’s Casino received initial funding and a new design. The project is being led by the Chicago Department of Transportation.

A construction date has been announced for the next phase of the Marquette Greenway Trail in Michigan. The 58-mile long trail is set to connect Chicago to Southwest Michigan by the end of 2027. The path is being led by the governments of the three states it crosses through, Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan, and is partially funded federally.

Work To Commence This Week On Phase II Of Kennedy Renovation

The massive project was announced last year, with phase one kicking off last spring and being fully completed in December. Construction of the Damen Green Line Station continues at 2001 W Lake Street in the Near West Side, under the management of the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). Initiated in 2017, the project has faced delays and a budget increase, now totaling $80.2 million. This development aims to reintroduce rail service to an area that has lacked it since the original station’s demolition in 1948. The original Damen Green Line station, constructed in 1893, was ultimately demolished 55 years later, alongside nine other stations, due to decreased demand and the CTA’s efforts to improve service efficiency.

City Announces Winners Of Over $30 Million In Grants

The Chicago Department of Planning and Development and Mayor Brandon Johnson have announced winners of multiple grants for projects across the city. The first pool consists of $25 million in grants for commercial projects, a second pool of $5 million is to be distributed for climate-transit related projects, and $8 million in Adopt-A-Landmark grants.
