Invest South/West Reveals Development Proposals For Pioneer Bank RFP In Humboldt Park

Invest South/West has revealed two new mixed-use development schemes for its RFP site at 4000 W North Avenue in Humboldt Park. The site sits on the corner of W North Avenue and N Pulaski Road and is made up of the landmarked Pioneer Trust and Saving Bank along with its .75-acre parking lot to the north. Goals for the RFP include new commercial space, rental and for-sale housing, and public spaces with the opportunity to celebrate local culture.

Parks District Opens New Visitor Center At Big Marsh Park In South Deering

The Chicago Parks District has opened a new visitor and nature center at Big Marsh Park in South Deering. Located at 11555 S Stony Island Avenue, the new center marks a major milestone for the South Side park with a 297-acre size that rivals Grant Park and is one of the largest properties in the urban park district.

City Council Approves Plans For New Theater At 5033 N Broadway In Uptown

The Chicago City Council has approved plans for a new theater building for the TimeLine Theater Company at 5033 N Broadway Avenue in Uptown. The building will be built in two phases, utilizing an existing century old warehouse building near the corner of N Broadway Avenue and W Argyle Street. The theater company which was started with $50 in 1997 has owned the building since 2018 and has been working with architecture firm HGA on the design which incorporates the existing glazed-tile building into its new home.

West Town’s Former Morton Salt Warehouse Kicks off Mixed-Use Conversion with Roof Replacement

Photos show the roof replacement for the prominent shed portion of Chicago’s Morton Salt Warehouse Complex in West Town. This replacement is one of the first key steps in a major adaptive re-use project that will transform the complex at 1357 N Elston Avenue into an office and entertainment venue.

Landmarks Commission Approves National Historic Register Submission of Ramova Theater in Bridgeport

The Commission on Chicago Landmarks has approved the submission of the Ramova Theater located at 3518 S Halsted Street in Bridgeport to the National Historic Register. Designed by Chicago architect Meyer O. Nathan, the neighborhood theater opened simultaneously with its sister theater, the Music Box, in Lake View in 1929.

Invest South/West has revealed the development schemes for its South Shore RFP site located at 2908 E 79th Street in South Shore. The two part 1.7-acre site includes vintage, low-rise buildings along with vacant land and direct access to the Metra Cheltenham station on the Electric Main Line.

Site prep can be seen progressing for the Obama Presidential Center, a three-building masterplan by The Obama Foundation now underway in Hyde Park. The project will occupy a portion of Jackson Park’s western edge, and will be oriented around a central plaza space that will accommodate planned events and public artwork. Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects and Interactive Design Architects will serve are the architects involved in the building design, while Michael van Valkenburgh Associates, Site Design Group, and Living Habitats have overseen the landscape architecture.

Pullman National Monument Opens At 11001 S Cottage Grove Avenue in Pullman

The National Parks service has opened The Pullman National Monument, Chicago’s first National Monument at 11001 S Cottage Grove Avenue in Pullman. Opening ceremonies for the complex took place over Labor Day weekend, a holiday which traces its origins back to the workers that made the Pullman Company into a passenger rail juggernaut with its iconic sleeper cars. The new monument is expected to attract over 300,000 yearly visitors and bring a major economic impact to the growing neighborhood.

Committee On Design Reviews Mixed-Use Development At 3201 W 31st Street In Little Village

The Chicago Committee on Design has reviewed a proposed mixed-use development at 3201 W 31st Street in Little Village. Envisioned as a campus, the now 30-acre development aims to bring life to a partially occupied lot enclosed by W 31st Street to the north, S Kedzie Avenue to the east, and the future Cinespace Campus 2 to the west. Developer Chicago Southwest Development Corporation (CSDC) has teamed up with HDR Architecture to design the massive southwest side complex.
