Developer DLG Management has proposed a new eight-story mixed-use building that will replace a one-story residential building at 5035 N Sheridan Road in Uptown. The project is expected to yield 77 new residential units atop ground-level retail.
The Committee on Design has reviewed plans for the mixed-use expansion of the Black Ensemble Theater (BE) at 4427 N Clark Street in Uptown. Dubbed ‘The Free To BE Village’ and located across the street from the theater’s current building, the new development will replace a one-story commercial building and surface parking lot. Developed by the theater itself, they have contracted a design group made up of Nia Architects, Gensler, and Site Design Group for the work.
Cladding and glass installation can be seen along the street-facing exterior of Stephens Commons, a new senior living development at 833 W Wilson Avenue in Uptown. Set to provide 73 affordable units, the six-story residential building has been spearheaded by Brinshore Development LLC, replacing what was previously a vacant grass lot.
Facade progress for the 12-story 4600 N Marine Drive in Uptown is rapidly advancing, with Lincoln Property Company having developed the edifice and Valerio Dewalt Train behind its design. The project, which commenced in early 2022, is transforming an underutilized parking lot near Weiss Memorial Hospital into a modern apartment building with 314 units.
The construction of the facade for the five-story mixed-use building at 1135 W Winona Street in Uptown is approaching completion. Now known as ‘The Sally’, the project by Cedar St. Companies follows their early project dubbed ‘The Draper’, located directly west across Broadway. With the other structure to be located at 1131 W Winona, both buildings in this second stage will rise five stories, containing ground-level retail spaces and 180 total residential units – 168 apartments and 12 townhomes.
