Dubbed the ‘Uptown Food Exchange’, it is unknown who is formally behind the project as they are operating under a business specific name. However it is believed up to three critically acclaimed Thai restaurants are leading the efforts according to Uptown Update. The building’s unique design is being worked on by local architects Future Firm.

Rising two-stories in height, the building spans 8,680 square-feet in size. Currently vacant, it most recently held a nail supply store at the heart of the Uptown Entertainment District. Once completed it will hold multiple food stalls for local restaurants, multiple seating areas, small shops, and more.

A new facade consisting of an angled screen illuminated by lanterns behind it will be added on all streetfacing sides, with an Asian inspired interior as well. The approved funding comes in the form of $1.98 million from the city’s new Housing and Economic Development bond granted by the city this week. At the moment no timeline for construction is known.
