Permits were issued on Monday for a three-story residential building located at 1325 West Carmen Avenue in Uptown. The permits for the development were issued to TSE Enterprises LLC and will involve five dwelling units with front and rear balconies on the first and second floors, a basement, a shared rooftop deck, and a detached one-story masonry garage. The site will offer three additional spaces via a carport.

ADU’s have a long history not only in Chicago, but nationally and is seeing a resurgence as the demand for affordable housing and new ways to gain equity are increasing as well. The local ordinance repeals laws created against them over 60-years ago in select pilot areas and went into effect May 1, 2022 after being voted on late last year.
The City of Chicago has celebrated the grand opening of the Winthrop Garden POP! Plaza at 4628 N Winthrop Avenue in Uptown. Located on the short back road just north of the intersection between N Kenmore Avenue and W Wilson Avenue, the new space replaces an existing community garden which has stood in its place for nearly 20 years. Building off of the upcoming Platform 4611 apartments, the efforts were led by the neighborhood run Uptown United along with the Chicago Department of Planning and Development.
The Chicago City Council has approved the residential development at 640 W Irving Park Road in Uptown. Located west of N DuSable Lake Shore Drive, the proposal originally introduced last year will renovate and convert the existing Immaculata High School while building a new tower on its surface parking lots. Developers KGiles LLC and CA Ventures are working with local firms Perkins Eastman and Level Architecture on the design for the project which has seen multiple revisions since the announcement due to community feedback.
A demolition permit was issued on Thursday of last week for the removal of a two-story frame residence located at 4706 N Malden Street in the Uptown neighborhood. The permit’s owner has been listed as Karolina Babkowska.
