Permits were finally issued this week for a mixed-use development at 4537 N Clark Street in Uptown. YIMBY previously reported on the controversial building in January when renderings were revealed. The permit indicates that the four-story build will have 14 dwelling units with three-bedroom layouts. The first floor will also hold two commercial spaces separated by the residential lobby. There will be 15 parking spaces at the rear of the building. Residents will have access to private balconies facing N Clark Street as well as a large rooftop deck.

The owner is listed as Wentworth 39 LLC, and the current plans indicate this project will yield four dwelling units, one of which will be a penthouse. City Council Approves Funding For Clarendon Community Center Renovations In Uptown

The Chicago City Council has approved a financial package for the renovation of the Clarendon Community Center in Uptown. Located at 4501 N Clarendon Avenue near the intersection with W Montrose Avenue and just west of Lincoln Park and S DuSable Lake Shore Drive, the existing structure will see a major rehab led by Chicago Park District with local design firms Booth Hansen and Site Design Group working on the new grounds.

CTA Planned Art Pieces for New Red Line Stations in Uptown and Edgewater

The CTA has revealed that they are seeking to partner with artists on the CTA’s Red-Purple Modernization Project. Officials state they are looking for help designing a total of six pieces which will later be installed throughout the Red Line stations in both Uptown and Edgewater. The Red Line stations at Lawrence, Argyle, Berwyn and Bryn Mawr have all been undergoing construction, with temporary stations at Argyle and Bryn Mawr. These stations are being refreshed as part of a $2 billion overhaul on the Far North Side.

A nine-story mixed-use development, known as Platform 4611, can be seen approaching full height at 4611 N Broadway in Uptown. Co-developed by John Buck Company and Free Market Ventures, this 103-foot project stands at the intersection of Broadway & Wilson. Planned programming includes 12,000 square feet of first-floor retail, split into units between 1,628 and 2,178 square feet. Atop this mercantile component will be 200 for-rent apartment dwellings, ranging from single-bedroom up to three-bedroom residences.
