New Hotel Conversion Is Underway at 226 W Jackson Boulevard in The Loop

Work is currently underway on the conversion of the historic 15-story office tower at 226 W Jackson Boulevard in The Loop. The building is the former headquarters of Chicago & North Western Railway and most recently was the headquarters building for City Colleges of Chicago. Located at the northeast corner of W Jackson Boulevard and S Franklin Street, the edifice is across the street from the Willis Tower, formerly Sears Tower. Phoenix Development Partners is in charge of this development, with an estimated development cost of $136 million, which includes the property acquisition cost of $32.7 million.

Construction Commences at bKL Architecture’s 300 N Michigan in The Loop

Construction has begun on the foundations for 300 N Michigan, which will rise 523 feet across 47 stories. Addressed as 300 N Michigan Avenue in The Loop, the development will stand at the intersection of N Michigan Avenue and E Wacker Place. Permit filings show that the foundation permits were issued in August, approving the construction of the caissons, foundation structure, and full floor structure up to level four. Full building permits have yet to be filed for the tower portion of the project. 300 N Michigan LLC is the owner behind the applications, an LLC for Magellan Development Group and Sterling Bay, the developers collaborating on this project.

Construction Progresses at City Club Apartments MDA Phase II in The Loop

Construction work is progressing at City Club Apartments MDA Phase II, a seven-story mixed-use development at 60 E Benton Place in The Loop. Located on a corner lot at the intersection of N Wabash Avenue and E Benton Place, the project is an expansion of the existing City Club Apartments, located adjacent to it at 63 E Lake Street. The building is designed by architect Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture and developed by City Club Apartments MDA II LLC. Norcon, Inc. is listed as the general contractor for the project.
