UChicago Cancer Center Takes 20th Spot In Countdown
Claiming the 20th spot in our year-end countdown is the new University of Chicago Cancer Center at 5654 S Drexel Avenue within the UChicago campus in Hyde Park. Located on the intersection with E 57th Street and replacing one of the last vacant lots in the campus, the project broke ground back in October. The university and UChicago Medicine are developing the expansion which is being designed by local firm CannonDesign.
Renovation Permit Issued for 1515 E 54th Street in Hyde Park
A permit has been issued for the interior demolition of six units within a 12-unit multifamily residence located at 1515 E 54th Street in Hyde Park. The work is part of a larger renovation plan for the three-story brick building.
Solstice On the Park Undergoes Facade Panel Replacement in Hyde Park
Facade replacement work is progressing for Solstice on the Park, located at 1616 E 56th Street in the Hyde Park neighborhood. The 26-story residential tower was completed in 2018, having been designed by Studio Gang and developed by Mac Properties. The building encompasses a 400,000-square-foot area with 250 residential units.
Core Reaches The Top for Harper Court’s Hyde Park Labs
The central core for Harper Court Phase II at 5201 S Harper Avenue in Hyde Park has reached its full height. Named “Hyde Park Labs,” this 13-story mixed-use development is a collaboration between The University of Chicago, Trammell Crow Company, and Beacon Capital Partners. It will span 302,000 square feet and focus its programming lab and office spaces for STEM-focused companies. It will also include 4,000 square feet of retail and a multitude of tenant amenites. A part of the $225 million building will be dedicated to The University of Chicago’s engineering and quantum research.
