Core Reaches The Top for Harper Court’s Hyde Park Labs

The central core for Harper Court Phase II at 5201 S Harper Avenue in Hyde Park has reached its full height. Named “Hyde Park Labs,” this 13-story mixed-use development is a collaboration between The University of Chicago, Trammell Crow Company, and Beacon Capital Partners. It will span 302,000 square feet and focus its programming lab and office spaces for STEM-focused companies. It will also include 4,000 square feet of retail and a multitude of tenant amenites. A part of the $225 million building will be dedicated to The University of Chicago’s engineering and quantum research.

Groundbreaking Held For UChicago Cancer Center In Hyde Park

A groundbreaking has been held for the new University of Chicago Cancer Center at 5654 S Drexel Avenue within the UChicago campus in Hyde Park. Bound by E 57th Street to the south and an existing parking garage to the west, the new building replaces one of the last vacant areas currently used as a parking lot. The university and UChicago Medicine are behind the proposal designed by local firm CannonDesign.

The development includes parking, featuring a two-car garage with a roof deck and an additional one-car garage.

Illinois Health Review Board Approves UChicago Cancer Center In Hyde Park

The Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board has approved the new medical building at 5654 S Drexel Avenue within the University of Chicago in Hyde Park. Sitting on the intersection with E 57th Street and replacing a surface parking lot, the new building will be the first free-standing cancer pavilion in the city. The university and UChicago Medicine are behind the proposal which is being designed by local firm CannonDesign.

Plan Commission Approves Jackson Park Improvements

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved new improvements to the east end of the Midway Plaisance at 5950 S Stony Island Avenue in Hyde Park. This small portion of the park is now within Jackson Park due to the Obama Center construction, with the redesigned Women’s Garden on the east and the Metra Electric line elevated tracks to the west. The project is being led by the Chicago Park District with Site Design Group serving as the designers, with five community meetings leading to the current proposal.
