Hotel Conversion Work Continues for 226 W Jackson Boulevard in The Loop

Photos show continued work at 226 W Jackson Boulevard in The Loop, the site of Phoenix Development Partners‘ planned conversion of a 15-story office building into a space for two Hilton hotels. The original 1904 limestone and terra cotta structure was designed by Frost & Granger, and housed offices for both the North Western Railway and City Colleges of Chicago up until its re-designation. As part of the conversion, the developer agreed to rehabilitate the exterior walls of the landmarked buildings in exchange for Class L tax incentives.

Demolition Pending for 800 W Lake Street, Site of Future 21-Story Hotel in Fulton Market

Demolition permits were issued last month clearing the way for a 21-story hotel at 800 W Lake Street, located near the heart of the booming Fulton Market neighborhood. The new structure will rise to 265 feet at its roof, replacing three low-rise masonry buildings and parking lot space. Planned by North Park Ventures, the yet-to-be-named hotel will provide space for 476 rooms, as well as ground-floor commercial space.

Approved Two-Tower Development at 725 W Randolph Street Takes 13th Spot in Chicago’s Tallest Developments Countdown

The approved mixed-use, two-tower development at 725 W Randolph Street takes the 14th spot in YIMBY’s Chicago’s Tallest Development countdown. Plans comprise of a main tower that will rise 550 feet and a second tower rising 250 feet on a full-block lot along the Kennedy Expressway. The site is bound on the other sides by W Washington Boulevard, N Halsted Street, and W Randolph Street. Related Midwest is the developer in charge of the project.
