A ribbon cutting has been held for the new Cultivate Collective community hub at 4942 W 44th Street in Garfield Ridge. Located just west of the intersection with S Cicero Avenue, the development replaced a vacant lot that was once part of the LeClaire Courts housing complex. The project itself was developed by Cultivate Collective who worked with the Academy for Global Citizenship and Greater Southwest Development Corp.
New upgrades have been announced for the Global Garden Refugee Training Farm at 2902 W Lawrence Avenue in Albany Park. Located on the intersection with N Sacramento Avenue, the urban farm is connected to the adjacent Ronan Park along the north branch of the Chicago River. Now the Chicago Park District is leading the park’s improvements which will include the farm itself.
A construction permit has been issued for the new upcoming community center 6623 S Dr Martin Luther King Jr Drive in West Woodlawn. Located just north of the intersection with E Marquette Road, the development has been in the works for multiple years and will be replacing a vacant lot currently occupied by a pop-up plaza. Developers Project H.O.O.D. and Trammell Crow Company are working with local architecture firm BNMO Design on the upcoming structure.
The Obama Presidential Center in Jackson Park continues to progress, with the main tower’s core now approaching the halfway mark. The development of this center is being overseen by The Obama Foundation and will feature three primary public facilities: a museum, a forum building, and a library branch.
Construction continues to climb for a new wellness facility located at 2933 W Division Street in Humboldt Park as the inner core structure has now reached its full height. This initiative commenced in January when the foundational permit was approved. Recent visuals depict brisk advancement in foundational stages. This glassy curved structure by JGMA will stand where a vacant plot and a duplex once were.
