The Chicago City Council has approved the rezoning for a residential development at 3350 N Ashland Avenue in Lake View. Located just south of the corner with W Roscoe Street, developer 3350 N Ashland LLC plans to demolish the existing two-story masonry commercial building built in 1988 and has sat vacant for multiple years. With 31,348 households within a mile of the lot with a yearly median income of $115,753, the developers hope to tap into the housing boom currently seen in the city.

Updated renderings have been revealed for a hospital expansion at 900 W Nelson Street in Lake View East. Bound by W Barry Avenue to the north and W Nelson Street to the south, the development proposed a multi-level expansion to the existing facility at the Illinois Masonic Hospital designed by the local office of SmithGroup. The hospital, which has recently completed a new parking garage nearby at 3021 N Sheffield Avenue, looks to proceed with the first half of the third phase of their campus expansion.

The local company bought the land that once held the Craftsman Plating & Tinning office and plant from a previous developer whose similar plans were cancelled earlier this year. Dubbed the ‘Lakeview Collection’, the plot of land fronts both W School Street to the north and W Melrose Street to the south with its longest side facing a public alley to the west.

Plan Committee Approves New Sporting Facility In Lake View

The Chicago Plan Committee has approved a new golf practice area at 3701 N Recreation Drive in Lake View. Located inside of Waveland Park behind the 1931 English Gothic style field house and carillon tower, the new outdoor facility is the second phase of a larger project which included renovations to the clubhouse. The course sits on land that belongs to the Chicago Park District‘s Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course, who have been partners of the project since the beginning.
