The next-door neighbor of a 1910 greystone demolished back in March on North Magnolia Avenue in Lake View is now also slated for the wrecking ball. A new construction permit for 3619 North Magnolia was issued by the City of Chicago on July 10, numbering the days remaining for the 1906-built residence. According to realtor.com, a sale of the property closed in late June for $1.35 million.
A demolition permit was issued on Tuesday, July 8 to tear down the Stone Medical Office Building at 2800 North Sheridan Road in Lake View. The permit had been pending in the Chicago Data Portal since April 22, a duration of 77 days before coming through. Atlas Industries, also serving as the demolition contractor at 168 North Clinton, is named as the demo contractor here at a reported cost of $1.1 million.
Foundation work is underway for a residential building at 3600 North Southport Avenue in the Lake View neighborhood. As evidenced by the shallow digging on the site, there will be no basement for this new four-story project. Concrete is beginning to form the walls on the east and north edges of the lot, while forms are in place at the center of the site ahead of additional concrete pours.
Additional renderings have been revealed for the upcoming Backbeat Hotel at 3257 North Halsted Street in Lake View. Sitting on the corner with West Aldine Avenue, we most recently covered the project back in February when an updated design was made public. The proposal is still in the works and plans to replace a vacant two-story commercial building.
Construction progress has reached the third floor on a four-story plus basement residential building at 1150 West Diversey Parkway on the south edge of Lake View. JEK Development of Glen Ellyn is erecting two units here, likely condominiums, and will add a two-car garage at the rear of the property once structural work is mostly complete on the residences.
