Many of the I-beam exterior pieces have now been installed along 1012 W Addison Street, a new three-story sportsbook betting addition to Wrigley Field in Lake View. The Chicago Cubs and Marquee Development are spearheading an extension to the iconic stadium oriented around sports betting, whose ban in the city was recently lifted. Owing to this new ordinance, the five major sports stadiums in the city have now facilitated their own betting operations.
Measuring 22,000 square feet in floor space, this stadium addition stadium will function as Draftkings’ sportsbook betting center with an integrated restaurant component. The third level will also have an outdoor bar and lounge component.
Gensler has designed the new structure, which offers a glassy contemporary facade. Despite this more modern architectural spin, the project still reflects the style of the stadium with the use of green-tinged I-beams.
The closest transit choices to the venue are the Route 152 bus and the Red Line at Addison station, both just paces east from the southeast corner of the site’s southeast corner. Also nearby is Route 22 bus service on Clark & Addison via a two-minute walk to the west.
Pepper Construction is the general contractor for this $9 million construction project, which is expected to wrap up in the coming months.
