Demolition is wrapping up for the Aon Center Plaza renovation at 200 E Randolph Street in the northeast corner of The Loop. Located just south of the iconic 83-story Aon Center Tower, the $6.5 million improvements to the half-acre space will include a mix of soft seating, gardens, fire pits, an outdoor par, open grass space, and accessible ramps. Planned by Aon Center owner 601W Companies, the new space will lie directly across Randolph Street, and serve as a public extension to the Millennium Park area.
Renovation permits have been issued for an existing three-story masonry building at 2435 S Leavitt Street in Lower West Side’s Heart of Chicago neighborhood. Filed under the owner Bader Leavitt LLC, the mixed-use structure will be converted to house nine residential units and will include a new metal porch and stairs.
Permits have been issued for a two-story addition to an existing two-story commercial building located at 44 E Walton Street in Near North Side. Owned by Rush Walton LLC, the L-shaped building currently houses a variety of retail storefronts and will continue to be retail-oriented once the new portion is complete. The filing description seems to indicate that the addition will be a separate mercantile space from the existing stores, with frontage located at 937 N Rush Street that lies caddy-corner to Walton Street.
