Major Funding Announced For Red Line Extension

Major funding has been announced for the upcoming CTA Red Line extension across the South Side. After being in the works for over 50-years, the federal government has now pledged $1.973 billion to the infrastructure project in order to get it built. Led by the Chicago Transit Authority itself, currently three teams are working on their proposals to build out the expansion and stations.

Permits Issued For CTA Blue Line Racine Station Reconstruction

Initial permits have been issued and renderings revealed for the upcoming reconstruction of the CTA Blue Line Racine station at 418 S Racine Avenue in the Near West Side. The project is part of the first phase of the larger Blue Line reconstruction currently underway, replacing much of the existing tracks we see today. The work is being led by the CTA with local firm Ross Barney Architects working on its design.

Renderings Revealed For Logan Square Station Remodel

Initial renderings have been revealed for the remodel of the Logan Square CTA Blue Line station at 2620 N Milwaukee Avenue. Located on the intersection with N Kedzie Avenue across the street from the famed square, the multi-exit station is set to receive its first major renovation in its 50-year history. The project is being led by Chicago Transit Authority and the Chicago Department of Transportation who are working local-form Jacobs Engineering on its design.

Contractor Awarded For Austin Green Line Station Reconstruction

In a wave of continuous improvements, the Chicago Transit Board has awarded the construction contract for the Austin Green Line Station. Located at 351 N Austin Boulevard within the Austin neighborhood, the project comes at a time when the Chicago Transit Authority is working on making all of its stations fully accessible by 2038. The project is being led by the CTA itself although an architect is currently unknown.

First Phase Of Blue Line Reconstruction Announced By CTA

The Chicago Transit Authority has announced the partial reconstruction of the Forest Park Blue Line Branch within the Near West Side. The work will take place in two-phases and span from the LaSalle station in the east to the Illinois Medical District station in the west, eventually future phases will rebuild the entirety of the branch while making it fully accessible. The work is being led by the CTA and will be completed by the fall.
