CTA Announces Three Teams To Submit Bids For Red Line Extension

The Chicago Transit Authority has announced three-teams to submit proposals for the upcoming Red Line extension. First proposed under the Daley administration in the 1950’s, initial funding for the project was approved late last year leading to the three groups identified. These teams consist of Walsh VINCI Transit Community Partners, Kiewit Infrastructure, and a joint venture between BOWA, FH Paschen, Ragnar Benson, and Milhouse.

CTA Announces Funding For New Train Series

The Chicago Transit Authority and the Department of Transportation have announced the funding for new train cars for the city’s transit system. Various state senators teamed up in DC to make the announcement earlier this week, with the money ultimately coming from the federal infrastructure bill passed in 2021. The money will come through the Federal Transit Administration as part of their 2022 and 2023 Rail Vehicle Replacement program, allowing for the CTA to replace some of its oldest rail rolling stock.

CTA Announces New Batch Of Stations To Receive Refresh In 2023

The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) has announced a new batch of stations to receive minor renovation work across the city. As a part of the system’s ongoing Refresh & Renew initiative which started in 2019, the authority under current president Dorval R. Carter will embark on some much needed maintenance work across all lines except the Yellow or Skokie Swift portion. The program itself is part of the greater ‘Meeting the Moment’ Action Plan the system has enacted.

New CTA Control Center In Garfield Park Could Bring Large Development To West Loop

The Chicago Transit Authority has revealed new plans for its control center near the intersection of N Pulaski Road and W Lake Street in Garfield Park. Located just north of the CTA Green Line Pulaski station and the upcoming Chicago Police and Fire Academy, the new structure will free up space in their current location at 120 N Racine Avenue in the West Loop. The proposal marks one of the largest city investments in the area in recent years led through a venture with locally-based Farpoint Development.

Completion Date Announced For Damen Green Line Station In Near West Side

An updated completion date has been announced for the upcoming CTA Damen Green Line Station, located at 2001 W Lake Street in the Near West Side neighborhood. Located on the southwest corner with the namesake street of N Damen Avenue, the new structure replaces a vacant lot that was once densely packed and previously held a station. The Chicago Transit Authority is leading the project with local architecture firm Perkins & Will in charge of its design.
