Chicago Fire Announce New Training Facility In Near West Side

Initial plans have been revealed for a new training facility for the Chicago Fire Football Club near 1459 W Roosevelt Road in the Near West Side. The project would replace a majority of the northern half of Addams/Medill Park bound by W Roosevelt Road, S Loomis Street, W 14th Street, and S Ashland Avenue. The project is being led by Chicago Fire owner Joe Mansueto after failing a first attempt to locate the facility in Belmont Cragin which would have employed 220 people a day. At the moment the design architect has not been revealed.

New Addition for Edith Spurlock Sampson Apartments Rises at 2700 N Sheffield Avenue in Lincoln Park

Structural work can be seen rising for the new six-story addition at Edith Spurlock Apartments in Lincoln Park. This new 85-foot-tall structure will be nestled between the complex’s two existing buildings, which are undergoing renovation as part of the development. Residing under the address 2700 N Sheffield Avenue, the added segment will provide an additional 80 residential units. The existing structures will also add 11 new units as part of the renovations. Altogether, there will be 485 apartments on the Edith Spurlock Apartment Grounds once all the work is complete. The Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) and Pirhl are co-developers behind the construction and renovation efforts, while RATIO is the architect.

Face Brick Now Installed at 508 E Pershing Road in Bronzeville

Facade work is now underway at 508 E Pershing Road, where The Community Builders has planned a four-story mixed-use building. With a roof height of 50 feet, the structure will offer 3,500 square feet of at-grade commercial space and 53 residential units planned for the upper floors. Approximately two-thirds of these units will be designated as affordable under the Chicago Housing Authority, while the remaining will be market rate apartments. Sizes are distributed into 50 one-bedrooms and three two-bedrooms.

Extended Funding Approved For Cabrini-Green Redevelopment in Near North Side

Extended funding for the redevelopment of the remaining parcels of the former Cabrini-Green homes has been approved by the Community Development Commission in Near North Side. The first of the two separate vacant parcels just west of downtown, sits north on the corner of N Larrabee Street and N Clybourn Avenue, replacing the recently demolished Near North Career High School. The second parcel just south of the first sits on the northeast corner of W Division Street and N Halstead Street next to a Target that was developed on former housing property as well.

CDC Approves $6 Million TIF For Park Boulevard Phase 3B at 3603 S Federal Street in Bronzeville

The Community Development Commission has approved $6 million in Tax Increment Financing (TIF) money for the development of Park Boulevard Phase 3B located at 3603 S Federal Street in Bronzeville. Part of the larger Park Boulevard community, the project is the next step in redeveloping the site of the former Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) Stateway Gardens housing projects. The overall property is bound by W 35th Street to the north, S State Street to the east, W 39th Street to the south, and the Metra tracks to the west. This portion of the plan is oriented along S Federal Street anchoring the stretch between W 35th Street and W 37th Street at each end. Stateway Associates LLC is the developer behind the project.
