Plans Progress To Upzone Broadway Across The North Side

Plans are advancing to rezone a long strip of Broadway across the far north side. Led by the Department of Planning and Development (DPD), the proposal will upzone Broadway from Montrose Avenue on the south end, to Devon Avenue to the north. Plans have been presented to the local community twice already with a third meeting expected on January 30th.

4701 North Clark street permit issued

Construction Permit Issued For 36 Units At Clark & Leland In Uptown

A new construction permit has been issued to allow for a 36-unit apartment building on the northeast corner of Clark Street and Leland Avenue in Uptown. Using the address of 4713 North Clark, the City of Chicago released the permit on January 6, 2025. The residential development replaces a single-story masonry building most recently home to Byline Bank. That structure was permitted for demolition in February 2022, then demolished in January of 2023.

Led by the Black Ensemble Theater across the street, the new mixed-use project will replace a one-story commercial building, parking lot, and small vacant lot on the corner with W Sunnyside Avenue. Made up of two buildings, the development will rise in two phases as well.
