A foundation and superstructure permit issued by the city on April 24 allows construction to begin on The Clifton, a five-story, 40-unit residential development at 4725 North Clifton Avenue in Uptown. Developer CEDARst Companies and general contractor Method Construction Services are the recipients of the permit, which entered the Chicago Data Portal on June 23 of last year.

An Uptown property we looked at earlier this month when it was permitted for demolition has now also received the go-ahead to begin new construction. On April 15, a permit was issued to start work at 4650 North Magnolia Avenue, calling for a three-story, four-unit building. Design work was performed by Stoneberg + Gross Architects and N.L.I.E. Construction will be the general contractor.

Caissons Permitted For 91 Units At 4006 North Sheridan Road In Uptown

The first permit has been issued to begin construction on a seven-story, 91-unit residential development on the northwest corner of North Sheridan and West Irving Park Roads in Uptown. Catapult Real Estate Solutions is the developer and recipient of the permit, which had been pending in the Chicago Data Portal since November 25 of last year. It includes a reported cost of $31.5 million, which seems more likely to be the reported cost of all construction permits rather than just the caissons.

Excavation Starts For 940 West Leland In Uptown

Foundation work is underway to transform three contiguous vacant lots in Uptown into a new residential building. Spanning 936 through 940 West Leland Avenue, an excavator began tearing up the soil on the site this week for a five-story, 32-unit project. D.O.M. Properties is the builder, having received a construction permit in mid-November of last year. The triple lot is on the north side of the dead-end street, east of North Sheridan Road.
