Updated details have been revealed for the redevelopment of the American Islamic College (AIC) building at 640 West Irving Park Road in Uptown. Sitting along Inner Lake Shore Drive, the project has been in the works for over four years and has seen various iterations and funding strategies. Now, the project will proceed without the proposed high-rise.
As foundation work continues at 4725 North Clifton Avenue in Uptown, the City of Chicago has issued a permit allowing the completion of the four upper floors of the five-story apartment building. General contractor Method Construction is at street level, working on concrete after receiving the foundation and superstructure permit to build up to the second floor on April 24. With the latest permission granted on August 19, they can build out the entire 40-unit structure.
The full building permit has been issued for the residential redevelopment of 4006 North Sheridan Road in Uptown, as three demolition permits continue to pend in the Chicago Data Portal to clear space for it. After receiving a caisson permit on April 3, developer Catapult Real Estate Solutions got permission to build out the entire project that’s slated to take over the northwest corner of Sheridan and Irving Park Roads.
Brickwork has risen to the third level for the three-story, four-unit residential building at 4650 North Magnolia Avenue in the Uptown neighborhood. As of July 19, concrete block had wrapped around both sides and the rear of the top floor, with the front not yet underway. Foundation work is done, and construction is now underway on the first floor of the five-story, 32-unit residential development at 936 West Leland Avenue in Uptown. Concrete block has shaped the stair and elevator cores through the center of the site, and the front wall in underway at ground level. Along the alley, work on the north wall is just getting started.
