A groundbreaking has been held for the residential development dubbed Sarah’s on Lakeside at 4737 N Sheridan Road in Uptown. Located on the northeast corner with W Lakeside Place not too far from the lakefront, the upcoming structure will replace a vacant lot near other properties operated by the same developer. That being non-profit organization Sarah’s Circle who is working with global architecture firm Perkins + Will on its design.
span data-preserver-spaces=”true”>A new residential permit for 4861 N Hermitage Avenue in the city’s Uptown neighborhood has been approved. Under development by Padraic Connolly, the proposed four-story building will house eight residential units, replacing a single-family frame residence.
Zoning has been approved for the residential development at 4553 N Dover Street in Uptown. Located on the southeastern corner with W Wilson Avenue and spread across two structures on an L-shaped lot, the project will demolish a one-story commercial building after receiving some updates earlier this year. Now the development team of Ayman Khalil and Kareem Musawwir can move forward with the Axios Architects-designed building.
Details have been revealed for the mixed-use expansion of the Black Ensemble Theater (BE) at 4453 N Clark Street in Uptown. Located directly across the street from the theater’s current home just south of the intersection with W Sunnyside Avenue, the new structure will expand the campus to create a cultural corridor. Originally imagined in 2009, the theater is now moving forward with enlarged plans dubbed ‘The Free To Be Village’ designed by Nia Architects, Gensler, and Site Design Group.
A renovation permit has been granted for an existing residential building at 1424 W Winnemac Avenue in Uptown. The project aims to convert the existing six-unit residential building into an eight-unit development, with interior alterations including MEP for two additional dwelling units in the basement. The listed owner of the project is 1420-28 W Winnemac LLC.
