Facade Pieces Go Up at UIC’s Computer Design Research and Learning Center in Little Italy

The University of Illinois Chicago’s new computer science building at 900 W Taylor Street in Little Italy is now undergoing facade installation. The five-story structure, called the Computer Design Research and Learning Center, is under construction and will connect to UIC’s existing Science and Engineering Labs building. Once completed, the center will add 135,000 square feet of new programming to support the university’s growing computer science program.

640 W Randolph Street Receives City Council Approval in West Loop Gate

The Chicago City Council has given the green light for 640 W Randolph Street, a 15-story mixed-use development project in the West Loop Gate neighborhood. The development, situated at the intersection with N Des Plaines Street, will replace an existing surface parking lot near the highway. Vista Property Group and Antunovich Associates, who have previously collaborated on projects at 741 N Wells and 609 W Randolph, are the driving force behind this new development, employing a similar industrial-inspired design approach.

Construction Passes Third Floor at 150 E Ontario Street in Streeterville

Progress continues at a steady pace at the 150 E Ontario Street hotel project in Streeterville, as construction is currently wrapping up on the third level. The 28-story, 345-foot-tall structure is set to become the latest addition to the RIU Hotels and Resorts chain, hosting 388 guest rooms and a cafe at the southeast corner of the ground floor. The Prime Group is spearheading the project as developer.

Remaining Facade Work Crosses Finish Line for 1020 W Randolph Street in Fulton Market

Final facade installation is now wrapping up for a new five-story mixed-use building at 1020 W Randolph Street in Fulton Market. The developer, L3 Capital, plans to offer ground-floor retail and Class A office space above, as well as a 1,850-square-foot rooftop deck.

Located at 900 W Taylor Street at the southern end of the main campus in Little Italy, the five-story addition will be adjacent to the existing Science and Engineering Labs building.

The 345-foot-tall structure will be the latest addition to the RIU Hotels and Resorts chain and is expected to feature 388 guest rooms, along with a cafe at the southeast corner of the building’s street level. The Prime Group is the developer behind this project.

Located on the northwest corner of the intersection with N Des Plaines Street, the slim proposal will be replacing a surface parking lot and joining a row of brick-clad commercial buildings near the highway. Taking ninth place in our year-end construction countdown, the 28-story hotel at 150 E Ontario Street is gearing up to rise in Streeterville. Developed by The Prime Group, the 345-foot-tall project will be the next location for the Spanish hotel brand RIU Hotels and Resorts, offering a total of 388 rooms. Additionally, a ground-level cafe will be situated at the southeast corner of the tower base.
