First Floor Fills out For The Saint Grand in Streeterville

Construction is now filling out for the first floor of The Saint Grand, a new 22-story mixed-use development at 535 N St Clair Street in Streeterville. Mavrek Development, GW Properties, Luxury Living, and Double Eagle Development have formed a joint partnership to develop the new structure, which will rise 238 feet. The building will feature 248 apartment units atop 45,000 square feet of commercial office space and 7,500 square feet of retail.

Construction is filling out for the base of 150 E Ontario Street, a 28-story hotel in Streeterville, Chicago. The 345-foot-tall structure will be the latest addition to the RIU Hotels and Resorts chain and is expected to feature 388 guest rooms, along with a cafe at the southeast corner of the building’s street level. The Prime Group is the developer behind this project.

Construction Begins on “FlyOver” Indoor Ride Attraction at Navy Pier

With McHugh Construction leading the work as general contractor, construction has begun for a new indoor ride at Navy Pier called FlyOver (different from the Navy Pier Flyover infrastructure project), which will occupy 48,000 square feet. The project will occupy a 60-foot-high, 80-f0ot-wide volume of space that previously served as an IMAX theater.

The 238-foot-tall structure will blend office space and 248 apartment units atop 7,855 square feet of commercial space.

Caisson permits have now been issued for 535 N St. Clair Street in Streeterville, clearing the way for a new 21-story mixed-use high rise. Mavrek Development has planned for the project to replace a three-story, 255-space parking garage. At 238 feet in height, the tower will have a unique blend of office space and 248 apartment units on the upper floors. There will also be a 7,855-square-foot retail space at the corner, as well as a 106-vehicle parking garage and a 102-slot bike storage room.

Initial Funding Announced For Northwestern Research Building Expansion In Streeterville

New funding has been secured for the expansion of the Simpson Querrey Biomedical Research Center at 303 E Superior Street in Streeterville. Located just east of the intersection with N Fairbanks Court, the current structure operated by Northwestern University is sandwiched between two medical office high-rises near their downtown hospital. The university, which recently announced a redesign of Ryan Field in Evanston, is now moving forward with its second phase which is expected to use the same team as phase one including global firm Perkins & Will along with engineering firm Thornton Tomasetti.
