Initial details have been revealed for the residential conversion of 201 E Delaware Place in Streeterville. Located on the corner with N Mies Van Der Rohe Way directly behind the John Hancock Center, the building was formerly the home of the Raffaello Hotel and most recently the Gale Hotel. The conversion is being proposed by a venture led by Florida-based Pebb Capital.

RIU Plaza Takes Sixth-Place In Year-End Countdown

Taking the sixth place in this year’s countdown is the RIU Plaza Hotel Chicago at 150 E Ontario Street in Streeterville. Located just east of the intersection with N Michigan Avenue, the project came in ninth place in last year’s countdown as it replaced an empty lot. Developer The Prime Group worked with local architecture firm Lucien LaGrange Studio on the hotel which will be operated by Spain-based RIU Hotels.

The Saint Grand, ranked as the 12th project in our yearly countdown of the tallest construction projects, is nearing the completion of its facade construction at 218 E Grand Avenue in Streeterville. This 21-story mixed-use building is a collaboration between Mavrek Development, GW Properties, Luxury Living, and Double Eagle Development, offering 248 residential units, 45,000 square feet of office space, and 7,500 square feet for retail purposes. NORR designed the 238-foot structure, characterized by its modern facade of dark metal and glass and distinctive columns of protruding glass balconies.

Navy Pier Marina Set To Move Forward

Plans for the Navy Pier Marina are set to move forward on the north side of the famed pier structure in Streeterville. Located at roughly 848 E Grand Avenue, the project has been in the works for years as part of the greater modernization efforts for the pier as it pivots for the next generation. Dubbed the Navy Pier Marina, the project is being led by NPM Ventures LLC and its founder Randy Podolsky.
