Groundbreaking Ceremony Held for “Cassidy on Canal” Residential Tower in Fulton River District

Yesterday, YIMBY attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the newly dubbed “Cassidy on Canal,” a 33-story residential tower at 344 N Canal Street in Fulton River District. The Habitat Company and Diversified Real Estate Capital are behind the project, which will replace the former Cassidy Tire Building that was demolished this year. The development will yield a total of 343 units along with ground-level retail and 123 parking spaces.

Facade Work Advances for 166 N Aberdeen Street in Fulton Market

The new 21-story mixed-use tower at 166 N Aberdeen Street in Fulton Market District is approaching an exterior completion, with facade work continuing its 224-foot climb to the pinnacle. Branded as “One Six Six” and developed by Greystar, the high rise will yield 224 apartments atop ground-level retail space.

42-Story Apartment Tower Proposed for 1234 W Randolph Street in Fulton Market

In a dramatically busy week, another residential tower has been proposed for 1234 W Randolph Street in Fulton Market. The joint venture behind these plans, comprised of Azur Holdings and Golub, have filed a zoning application calling for a 42-story tower with 400 apartment residences, of which 80 will be affordable under ARO guidelines.

Foundation Permit Issued for 344 N Canal Street in Fulton River District

A foundation permit has been issued for the 33-story mixed-use 344 N Canal Street in Fulton River District. Formerly the site of the five-story Cassidy Tire building, the new 375-foot-tall structure by The Habitat Company and Diversified Real Estate Capital LLC will provide a total of 343 apartments atop ground-floor retail.

166 N Aberdeen Street Reaches 16th Floor in Fulton Market District

Structural work has reached the 16th floor of a 21-story mixed-use building at 166 N Aberdeen Street in Fulton Market District. Developed by Greystar, the 241-foot high rise will be primarily apartments atop ground-level retail space. The current construction marks the second phase of a two-part scheme, whose first installment is the 11-story mixed-use building directly across Aberdeen Street.

Just west of the confluence of the Chicago River, demolition is now in full swing for the former Cassidy Tire building in Fulton River District. Potential groundbreaking have been announced for two Fulton Market projects after securing the land sale and anchor tenants this week. The two projects in question are the life sciences building at 400 N Elizabeth Street and the office building at 360 N Green Street, each led by different developers but delivering similar amounts of leasable space at each end of the quickly growing neighborhood. All together they will bring roughly 1 million square feet of new commercial space in an area poaching new leases at a faster rate than most.

Just north of the Randolph & Aberdeen intersection in West Loop, Greystar Development’s 166 N Aberdeen Street can be seen rising past the second floor. The 21-story project involves a mixed-use package of ground-level retail and 224 total apartment dwellings. Greystar purchased this parcel, a former sausage factory, for $6 million from MCZ Development.
