Further details and renderings have been revealed as the Chicago Plan Commission has approved the new Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park. Located on the intersection of S DuSable Lake Shore Drive and E 87th Street on the southern half of the former South Works site, plans were revealed earlier this year to neighborhood concerns.
Additional funding has been approved by the Chicago Community Development Commission for the next phase of the Lathrop Homes redevelopment around 2712 N Hoyne Avenue. Earlier this year we covered the project when it gained funding approval from the CHA, now an additional $25 million in TIF money is on its way towards full city approval.
Construction progress continues on the 400 Lake Shore North Tower at the old Chicago Spire development site in Streeterville. Now that the Spire cofferdam has been filled in and excavated, it’s hidden from sight as the tower’s lower floors come into view. Amidst a sea of rebar, the ramp down to the lower parking levels is visible, and there’s a glimpse into the lowest two levels of sub-basement, while the rest of the site has grown even in height to the top of the concrete core.
It has been revealed that the Discovery Partners Institute (DPI) within The 78 has been canceled. The project located at 1519 S Wells Street has been in the works for years and saw several reductions in scale since it was first announced. The cancellation was first reported by Crain’s, dealing a blow to the massive development led by Related Midwest that has been trying to lock down additional anchors.
