Construction has begun on the residential development at 2234 West Grand Avenue in West Town. A demolition permit was issued for the Rainbow Art, Inc building previously on the site in late February. It was torn down very quickly, allowing developer and general contractor Panoptic Group to get started on foundation work. Construction approval was received on March 7, at a reported build cost of $6.5 million.

The permit came through on February 27, assigning B & K Concrete 1 of Blue Island as the deno contractor, at an estimated cost of $65,000. The building was the home of the Rainbow Art, Inc., and sold in fall of last year. But details about the selling price, as well as when Rainbow Art vacated the building, have proven difficult to find.
