140 N Ashland Now Topped Out in Near West Side

Located in the Near West Side neighborhood along Union Park, the structure and outer walls for 140 N Ashland Avenue have now reached their full height. This 12-story mixed-use building planned by developer Marquette Companies will integrate with a 1920s era, five-story brick structure on its southern side. Once complete, the complex will feature 210 apartment units above ground-level retail spaces.

Medical District’s The Lydian Takes 19th Place In Countdown

This year’s countdown continues with The Lydian at 513 S Damen Avenue in the Illinois Medical District taking the 19th place. The structure claimed the 19th place in last year’s countdown as well when it had recently broken ground, but now the development races towards completion just south of the intersection with W Congress Parkway. Local developer Marquette Companies, who is also behind a handful of projects around the West Loop’s Union Park, is leading the charge with architecture firm Brininstool + Lynch having worked on its design.

140 N Ashland Avenue Takes #30 in Year-End Countdown

As the 30th tallest construction project in Chicago’s year-end countdown and set to stand 155 feet in height, 140 N Ashland Avenue is now making headway in Near West Side. The 12-story building by Marquette Companies will attach to an existing five-story brick building, offering a total 210 rental apartments in addition to first-floor retail. At least 10 percent of the units will be affordable, while the remaining five percent will either be on- or off-site (yet to be indicated).

Groundbreaking Held For Covent Hotel Renovation At 2653 N Clark Street in Lincoln Park

A groundbreaking has been held for the mixed-use renovation of the old Covent Hotel at 2653 N Clark Street in Lincoln Park. Located on the corner with W Drummond Place, the project is part of a larger proposal which will bring a new market rate apartment building, however the existing rooming motel will be converted to affordable units. This is being led by the NHP Foundation and Drummond Development with local firm Weese Langley Weese Architects working on its design.
