The tower crane has been erected and is helping progress go vertical at 566 West Van Buren in the West Loop. We last stopped by the site on June 3rd, which turned out to be the day the crane was planted in the ground. Full assembly was expected the following week, and when we visited again yesterday, the Potain MR418 luffing crane was doing the heavy lifting. Naturally, 3-D progress is ramping up now that the tower crane is busy.
Zoning has been approved for the upcoming residential development at 1282 West Washington Boulevard in the West Loop. Sitting mid-block between North Ada Street and North Elizabeth Street, the project has been in the works for a few months and was initially revealed back in March. Development efforts are being led by ZSD Corp and Corwin Partners.
A timeline and anchor tenant have been announced for the upcoming skyscraper at 725 West Randolph Street in Fulton Market. The upcoming skyscraper has seen a small height bump since we last covered its conversion from residential to an office proposal back in 2023. Since then, developer Related Midwest has been seeking tenants to kick off construction.
Brick work has taken over the exterior on the apartment building at 629 West Lake Street in the West Loop. A mast-climbing work platform remains attached to the west elevation as masonry work continues. There are still some windows that need to be installed on the west façade, and plenty of work remains at street level to enclose the first floor, which will include 2,000 square feet of retail space, a storage room for 49 bicycles, and two indoor parking spaces.
Strategically stacked concrete block is nearing full height for elevator and stair cores at 135 North Desplaines Street in the West Loop neighborhood. The two cores contain the building’s three means of vertical circulation, with one stairwell by itself near the center of the structure, with the second stairwell and the elevator shaft sharing the south core. The first stairwell has topped out at nine stories; the south core is at the eighth level.
