LaSalle Street Office Conversion Plans Advance for Four Developments

On Wednesday, April 3rd, Mayor Brandon Johnson announced the selection of four developments for the LaSalle Street Reimagined initiative. These projects aim to rejuvenate the area by brining residents into the corridor after pandemic vacancies, utilizing $151.2 million in tax-increment financing funds. The office-to-residential developments will repurpose underused office buildings and adding over 1,000 new residential units, including at least 319 affordable units. Pending approval by the City Council, completion is slated for 2027 as reported by WTTW News.

Facade Nears Completion for RIU Plaza Hotel at 150 E Ontario Street in Streeterville

With much of the remaining work now at the base, The Prime Group is finalizing the construction of a 28-story hotel located at 150 E Ontario Street in the Streeterville neighborhood. This building, a part of the RIU Hotels and Resorts group, is 345 feet tall and includes 388 guest rooms. On the ground floor will be a lobby and a cafe situated at the southeast corner, while the second level will house a dining room for guests.

RIU Plaza Takes Sixth-Place In Year-End Countdown

Taking the sixth place in this year’s countdown is the RIU Plaza Hotel Chicago at 150 E Ontario Street in Streeterville. Located just east of the intersection with N Michigan Avenue, the project came in ninth place in last year’s countdown as it replaced an empty lot. Developer The Prime Group worked with local architecture firm Lucien LaGrange Studio on the hotel which will be operated by Spain-based RIU Hotels.

Details Revealed For Thompson Center Redevelopment

New renderings have been revealed for the redevelopment of the Thompson Center at 100 W Randolph Street in The Loop. Sitting right in the heart of downtown, the massive structure has been at the center of many debates on preservation since the state announced its sale years ago. Now its new tenant and future owner Google has laid out its plans designed by JAHN Architects, the firm of the building’s original designer.
