Shedd Aquarium Scores A Tower Crane Permit

The City of Chicago has issued a tower crane permit for a alrge-scale expansion and renovation at the Shedd Aquarium. The permit application was filed on October 9 of last year, and issued on February 21. Pepper Construction is both the general contractor and concrete contractor here, so they’ll be in charge of the crane’s operation. This is the second renovation project to get a tower crane in Chicago this year, joining the Thompson Center transformation into Google offices.

1717 Michigan construction name update

Glass Is Up, Tower Crane Is Down, And 1717 Michigan Has An Official Name

The first few levels of exterior glass have been installed on 1717 Michigan, the South Loop residential building from CMK Companies formerly known as 1723 South Michigan. The construction site is also notable for what it doesn’t have: a tower crane. That’s been taken down now that the building is topped out. The construction hoist at the south end of the structure will do the rest of the heavy lifting from here on out.
