The current developer, SNS Realty Group, had bought the site from a previous developer with a different scope and design. New construction permits have been issued for a four-story, multi-unit residential building located at 1533 W Fry Street in West Town. RED Architects is behind the design, while K2 Studio is the architect of record. Plans indicate six units with front- and rear-covered open decks on the first floor, covered open front decks on the third floor, an open rear rooftop deck, and a four-story open egress stairwell. Plans also include a detached six-vehicle garage and two off-street parking spaces with electric charging stations.

Updated details have been released for the residential project at 2548 S Federal Street in Douglas. Dubbed SL Solar Lofts, the site is bound by W 26th Street to the south, the Metra Rock Island tracks to the west and Stevenson Expressway to the north. The project will rehab and partially expand the existing industrial building into apartments. The previous owner, JDC Group Inc., recently sold the property to its current developer 548 Capital who has taken over the previously detailed plans from Red Architects.

The mixed-use structure has been planned by the occupying owner Cumin Restaurant, originally listed as Kathmandu Properties in the issued permit. Prior to construction, the parcel was occupied by a two-story masonry building, which was demolished in 2019.
