Developer Submits Plans for C40 Garfield Green Development at 201 S Kedzie Avenue in East Garfield Park

Plans have been submitted to the city for the C40 Garfield Green development at 201 S Kedzie Avenue in East Garfield Park. Located on two parcels at the intersection of S Kedzie Avenue and W Fifth Avenue, the adjacent sites will both be corner properties. The development will replace vacant city-owned property as the winning proposal of the C40 Reinventing Cities competition. Preservation of Affordable Housing is the developer behind the proposal.

City Unveils Finalists for C40 Reinventing Cities Competition for Site in The Loop

The City of Chicago has unveiled the four finalist proposals for the C40 Reinventing Cities competition, planned for a city-owned site in The Loop. Located at 331 S Plymouth Court, the project site consists of a city-owned parking garage and a series of smaller parcels on the western edge of Pritzker Park. Bound by S Plymouth Court and W Van Buren Street, the rectangular parcel also has an alley running through that will be vacated.

Prep Work Progresses for The Reed Tower at Southbank in South Loop

Photos show fencing and equipment in preparation for a new residential tower at 234 W Polk Street in South Loop. Known as The Reed, the tower will mark the next stage of a larger megadevelopment called Southbank. While the current prep work for The Reed is taking place further north from where its actual footprint will be, the work is still a critical first step for the development’s construction. Permits posted on-site show that Lendlease is sealing off old freight tunnels that run underneath the Southbank property, thereby allowing for foundation work to proceed on the tower site.

Renderings Unveiled for The Reed at Southbank, Entire Development Ranks as Chicago’s 11th Tallest Project

Renderings have been revealed for The Reed, the second residential tower at Southbank, as the entire development takes the 11th spot in YIMBY’s Chicago’s tallest developments countdown. Located on a 7.5-acre, waterfront site, Southbank is a megadevelopment that was split off from the original Riverline joint venture development by Lendlease and CMK Companies. The parcel is bound by W Harrison Street, S Wells Street, W Polk Street, and the Chicago River.
