City Announces Winners Of We Rise Together Grant

The seven winners of the We Rise Together grant have been announced across the south and west sides in predominantly Black and Latino communities. The $6.7 million grant is the result of a program from the Chicago Community Trust that began in 2020 as the pandemic disproportionately affected communities of color and is aimed at assisting the areas recover. Learning from the recession, the winners range from small businesses to new construction representing the resilience of all Chicago’s neighborhoods.

Foundation Work in Full Swing for University of Illinois Chicago’s Computer Design Research and Learning Center

Site prep and caisson work is now visible for a new five-story educational building at 900 W Taylor Street, located near the southern edge of The University of Illinois Chicago‘s main campus. Known as the UIC Computer Design Research and Learning Center (CDRLC), the new 135,000-square-foot facility will cling to an existing mid-century building that houses various engineering departments and research centers.

City Council Approves Plans For New Theater At 5033 N Broadway In Uptown

The Chicago City Council has approved plans for a new theater building for the TimeLine Theater Company at 5033 N Broadway Avenue in Uptown. The building will be built in two phases, utilizing an existing century old warehouse building near the corner of N Broadway Avenue and W Argyle Street. The theater company which was started with $50 in 1997 has owned the building since 2018 and has been working with architecture firm HGA on the design which incorporates the existing glazed-tile building into its new home.

Plan Commission Approves School Expansion At 5099 W Quincy Street In South Austin

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved a school expansion at 5099 W Quincy Street in South Austin. The expansion will be to the existing Chicago Jesuit Academy bound by W Jackson Boulevard to the south and W Quincy Street and Moore Park to the north. The new Solomon Cordwell Buenz-designed extension will tie into the existing school building and bring a variety of new facilities to the growing campus.
