A construction permit has been greenlit for outdoor upgrades to the Benjamin E. Mays Elementary Academy at 6656 S Normal Boulevard in Englewood. The project, owned by the city, is expected to provide an array of exterior improvements including a new play lot, artificial turf field, stormwater management, and additional landscaping.

The University of Illinois Chicago’s new computer science building at 900 W Taylor Street in Little Italy is now undergoing facade installation. The five-story structure, called the Computer Design Research and Learning Center, is under construction and will connect to UIC’s existing Science and Engineering Labs building. Once completed, the center will add 135,000 square feet of new programming to support the university’s growing computer science program.
Construction permits have been issued for multiple sports-related projects at St. Ignatius College Prep, a private Jesuit Catholic school at 1003 W Roosevelt Road in the Near West Side. The project includes two new single-story dugouts and a two-story operations booth, all located on the baseball diamond at the school’s athletic fields.
