The Department of Planning and Development for the City of Chicago will launch the Committee on Design as a part of the planning and review process for developments in Chicago. This new committee is aimed to establish a platform for standardized, elevated design while expediting the Department of Planning and Development review process.
The Chicago Plan Commission has approved a residential development located at 5950 N Sheridan Road in Edgewater. Facing N Sheridan Road, the midblock lot is located between W Thorndale Avenue and W Glenlake Avenue. Edgewater Acquisitions LLC is the developer behind the proposal.
The Chicago Plan Commission has approved amendments to The Fields Development located at 4000 W Diversey Avenue in Belmont Gardens. Mainly the site of the historic Marshall Fields Warehouse, the development is part of a multi-building complex. The overall site is bound by W George Street to the north, N Pulaski Road to the east, W Diversey Avenue to the south, and rail lines to the west. Knickpoint Ventures is the developer behind the project.
The Chicago Plan Commission has approved the updates to the Fulton Market Innovation District (FMID) plan. Implemented to guide the future growth of the neighborhood, the plan will govern the area bounded by W Hubbard Street to the north, W Randolph Street to the south, N Halsted Street to the east, and N Ogden Avenue to the west. This newly approved plan will supersede the original plan adopted in 2014.
The Chicago Plan Commission has approved plans for the new Belmont Cragin Elementary School at 6100 W Fullerton Avenue in Belmont Central. Located in the southeastern corner of Riis Park, the site is located at the intersection of W Fullerton Avenue and N Meade Avenue. Public Building Commission of Chicago is the developer for the project, representing Chicago Public Schools and the Chicago Park District.
