City Council Approves Community Center In Auburn Gresham

The Chicago City Council has approved the rezoning for a new community center at 1219 W 87th Street in Auburn Gresham. Developed on a partially empty lot by the Progressive Beluah Pentecostal Church, the project dubbed The Progressive Manor Community Center will cater to local youth with aftercare programs and spotting facilities. Plans have been filed with the Committee on Zoning for a new community and youth center at 1219 W 87th Street in Auburn Gresham. Sitting just southeast of the corner with S Elizabeth Street, the new center will partially replace an existing one-story building which was recently purchased by the Progressive Beulah Pentecostal Church after a lengthy fundraising campaign. The new structure is being designed by local design firm Blue Lines Architecture with general contractor Praxis Construction Inc out of Wheeling.

Plan Committee Approves New Sporting Facility In Lake View

The Chicago Plan Committee has approved a new golf practice area at 3701 N Recreation Drive in Lake View. Located inside of Waveland Park behind the 1931 English Gothic style field house and carillon tower, the new outdoor facility is the second phase of a larger project which included renovations to the clubhouse. The course sits on land that belongs to the Chicago Park District‘s Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course, who have been partners of the project since the beginning.

Nestled on the site of a former parking lot between Prairie Shores’ 2901 and 2951 towers, the new structure will be addressed as 2937 S Martin Luther King Drive. The development is part of a broader plan to renovate the five-building complex, which involves the makeover of 1,675 units, existing common spaces, and landscaping.
