Final Landmark Recommendation Approved for Illinois Bell Building, Chicago’s 21st Tallest Development

The Commission on Chicago Landmarks has approved the final landmark recommendation and Class L tax incentive for the Illinois Bell Building. Located at 225 W Randolph Street in The Loop, the tower is located at the intersection of W Randolph Street and N Franklin Street. The tower rises 427 feet over 31 floors, and was constructed in 1965. The building was originally home to the headquarters of its namesake tenant, the Illinois Bell Telephone Company, while most recently home to AT&T offices.

Exterior Work Nears Completion at 369 W Grand Avenue in River North

Exterior work is wrapping up on the topped-out, 41-story residential tower at 369 W Grand Avenue, dubbed “The Grand” in River North. The project is both developed and constructed by Onni Group, and designed by Brininstool + Lynch. YIMBY last reported on the development in August when facade work was still needed on the top nine floors, four of which have since been completed.

Old Town Park Phase Three is Close to Topping Out in Near North Side

YIMBY has recent construction photos of Onni Group‘s third and final tower, a 41-story mixed-use building in the Old Town Park development, a large site just east of Near North Side‘s Seward Park. Located at 1140 N Wells Street, the three-tower complex is developed by the Vancouver-based real estate company, which has built a series of other apartment buildings in the Near North Side area. Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture is responsible for designing all three phases. Phase One consists of a 32-story residential high rise northeast of the third tower, while Phase Two is a 39-story mixed-use tower adjacent to the east of it.
