The Chicago Planning Commission has approved a new outpatient medical office building addition for the Swedish Hospital at 2826 W Foster Avenue in Lincoln Square. The Jensen & Halstead Architects-designed stand-alone building replaces a flat parking lot across the street from the existing hospital campus and hopes to serve the area’s nearly 41,000 residents.
The Chicago Plan Commission has approved a medical inpatient development at 1400 W Harrison Street in the Illinois Medical District. Located on the corner of S Loomis Street and W Harrison Street, the new acute care hospital building will rise next to the recently completed Joan and Paul Rubschlager building, both of which sit on land once occupied by a student housing complex.
The Chicago Committee on Design has reviewed a proposed mixed-use development at 3201 W 31st Street in Little Village. Envisioned as a campus, the now 30-acre development aims to bring life to a partially occupied lot enclosed by W 31st Street to the north, S Kedzie Avenue to the east, and the future Cinespace Campus 2 to the west. Developer Chicago Southwest Development Corporation (CSDC) has teamed up with HDR Architecture to design the massive southwest side complex.
Demolition permits have now been issued for two single-story masonry buildings, clearing the way for a new Howard Brown Health Clinic to be located at 3501 N Halsted Street in Lake View’s Boystown neighborhood. The five-story mixed-use structure will comprise of 7,600 square feet of ground-level retail, two floors of clinic space, and three floors of Howard Brown administrative office space on the remaining levels.
